There is a quote that I heard recently from Coco Chanel... "Every girl should be two things, classy and fabulous." My mother, when she heard that, adopted it as her new philosophy. She tries to be classy and fabulous each day, whether she's running errands, staying home, or going out on the town. She has seriously been such an inspiration to me.
I will confess... The idea of being classy and fabulous has been very hard for me to fathom lately. You know with an 18 month old that makes a sticky mess out of everything and a newborn that spits up almost constantly. Not only that but in the past two years there has only been one month where I was not either pregnant or nursing and it is awfully hard to be classy and fabulous when you feel like you aren't quite you (if that makes sense at all). I won't lie either, I miss me. There are some days where I go through everything in my closet trying to find something I feel comfortable in and I always seem to end up in the same few t-shirts and pants.
In a way I feel like it is vain, selfish, and silly to be concerned with things like this. I can't help it though. I need to feel good about myself. Everyone does. Everyone needs to feel like they are trying their hardest to not only be their best but look their best. I think so at least...I always feel more accomplished and satisfied with the day, therefore putting me in a better mood, when I feel like I look good.
So I am here to tell you that I am going to put my big girl panties on and learn to be classy and fabulous regardless! I am going to do it! I am going to make myself feel like me again and be excited! I think that being confident in what you are wearing and in yourself is half the battle to achieving a state of classy and fabulous honestly actually. If I keep telling myself that, I know I can do it. What do you think?
My quest started this past weekend in fact. After reading this post, I knew I wanted to (finally...) try wearing lipstick. BEST DECISION EVER!! Seriously... I got this from Sephora (Fire Down Below was the color) and I am pretty sure that I want to wear it every day. I absolutely love it. There is nothing like wearing a fabulous red lipstick to make you feel classy and fabulous regardless of what you are wearing, where you are going, or what that gooey stuff smeared down your pant leg is.
The next step is the wardrobe. I'm still working on that. It is a little harder than throwing on some gorgeous makeup. But I'm working on it nevertheless. (You know how I absolutely love online shopping!)
It's always been hard to define my style. I look back at myself through the years and think about how my style and clothing choices have changed. I would like to think now that I am a "grownup" and have a family that I would know exactly what my "style" is. But alas... I have no idea... The good thing is, usually I can at least formulate an opinion now, which is nice to be able to say considering my ability to do so ten years ago was practically nonexistent.
So, with nothing to go by but my own personal opinion... these are a few of the things I've had my eye on... what do we think?

I do not believe you have EVER seen me without makeup or lipstick. Makes me feel fabulous, even on a day that I am just staying at home.

DeleteI do not think it is vain or selfish at all. Trying to look fabulous is what gets me through some of the hard days and builds confidence. When I feel confident I get more done and am usually more willing to help others. It think this post is... Fabulous!
